My Finals Project

For my family project, I needed to get information, so I interviewed my parents, and my dad's
answers are here and my mom's answers are here.  So after I got some information from them, I
E-Mailed my sister and tried to get information from her, and you can view that E-Mail here.  After I
got information from her, I did my family tree on FamilyEcho, which you can view here.  After I
made the tree, I made a Prezi, and then after that, I made an info-graphic using Piktochart.

Blog Post of the Day:
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

This weekend I'm going to my uncle's house for thanksgiving and he lives in Oklahoma.  Our traditions on thanksgiving is eat a lot and make sure that you get fat, and make sure that there are yams and marshmallows there, also.  When I get home i will probably make a video for my YouTube channel, because I haven't made one in a few months.

Reflecting on the comments and grade of your stop-motion animation... what you would do differently if you had to do it all over again? Would you manage your time better? Find better lighting for your photos? Come up with a better idea? Explain what you would change about your video.

If I could redo my project then I would just try to stabilize the camera more than I already did, and i would wait and get them to be less blurry so the camera can focus, and I would get better lighting than I already had.  The scores that people gave me were out of 17 scores, 7 were 5/5, 7 were 4/5, and 3 were 3/5, and the main problem that they said was the camera was jumpy, but overall based on those scores, I think I did pretty well.

Tell me about your weekend.

Over the weekend I practiced driving with my mom and drove around some neighborhoods and on some main streets, and this is only my 5th time driving, so I was a little nervous, but I do like driving, because it can be fun sometimes and I  hope that I can practice driving again this weekend.

Tell me about your experience with taking your stop-motion photos. What problems did you run in to? What did you find difficult about the process? What would you go back and change about HOW you took the photos? Explain yourself.

The only problems I had about my animation was that the Legos sometimes fell apart and I had to rebuild some of the spots.  Other problems were that I had my fingers in some of the shots and had to crop them out.  Those are the pictures that I would retake.

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

Stop motion animation is an animation that is just a bunch of pictures that are around 30 frames a second so it seems like it is a video to ours eyes, and it is most of the time hand drawn pictures, and sometimes it is claymation also, or it can be any physical object that is just in animation

Five Frame Story Board

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your idea for your 5 frame story board. What is the plot? How do you plan to make the story creative? Who's the main character? What is the beginning, middle and end? Tell me about your plan of attack.

My five frame story is about an evening, and it shows what I do when I get home from school.  It starts with me getting home from school and ends with me sleeping, and I'm the main character.

I took photos around the school and used Photo Shop to edit them and make it "pop out" more, i used a brighten and darken feature that Photo Shop had and an enhance the pictures and make them more colorful, like the bricks and the black and gold emblem.

Tell me about your weekend - details please!

Over the weekend I got my drivers permit at the dead mall and it was a very easy 25 question paper test and I only missed two questions, it was extremely easy but I thought it would be on the computer.  So far I am really nervous when I'm in the driver's seat, but I hope I'll get used to it.

Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

I have never done and photography for social media or any photo editing, I've only done video editing, and I don't even own photo shop.

This weekend on Friday I went over to my sister's and her boyfriend'sand we had dinner and we "partied" until around midnight, and we were playing board games like taboo and apples to apples, and when there weren't enough spots some of us played Call of Duty or Skyrim, or Battlefield.

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.
I agree that there are certain cloths for certain times like Mrs. Scheuerman says and that there should be a little dress code.  I still think that our dress code is better because it is still letting people be more free on what they wear than most other schools do already.

I would be in math classes, science classes, (but not biology, do we really need to know how plant cells work?)  normal ELA, like what I am taking now, and all other classes that I am taking right now.  I would spend my time wisely in those classes and not blow it off, (not like I do that now).

Over the weekend I played  The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.  Skyrim is an open world RPG game that lets you explore the world and kill dragons that are attacking towns and cities.  The time in the game is around the mid evil age.  it is very fun, and also there are a lot of side quests as well as the normal story.

I think that the thumb rule should not be broken because Blue Valley already made the rule less harsh by making it the thumb rule instead of the hand rule or whatever.  I disagree with the article, but at the same time agree with it.  People should wear what they want, but not "distract" other people.

Over the weekend I went and saw the movie The Maze Runner and it is about some kids in the middle of a maze and they have to escape, but the maze is full of deathly creatures that sting you and they try to survive on what the people that put them there give them.

What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly.  They are like charts that present very complex information.  They use bar graphs, pie charts, and line graphs, and that makes a good infographic.

This weekend I went to Worlds of Fun with my friend Marcus, and we had fun riding all the rides, and we rode the new one, also.  The new one is called Steel Hawk, and it is a pillar that goes as high as the Mamba (which we also rode) and it spins you in circles letting you see the whole park.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

Since I haven't been in this school that long I really don't know any changes that have to be made, I really don't.  I guess the thing I would say is to make the mobile homes inside and just extend the school out that much, because it will get annoying when it becomes winter to go out there.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?
(If you don't have a smart phone or tablet, what are you favorite website you visit regularly.)

My favorite app on my phone is 9GAG because it is a website that people submit helpful or funny posts to and other people go through them and mark off which ones are acceptable to make it to the front page, and it is so popular, that there is a new post on the front page every minute or so and it can be very helpful at giving you life hacks or making you laugh at funny things and it is a great way to past the time. And it is also a website on the computer if you don't have a smart phone.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

An email is like texting, but for computers and it is free and you have multiple websites to email from.  I never use email.  People email because it isn't instant like texting is so you don't interrupt a meeting or something.  People email with multiple websites, suck as Yahoo, MSN, Gmail, and more.  I have no idea what "email etiquette" is.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

I think that some tools, such as Bubbl.us is a very useful tool, and the Google docs and drive are also very useful, but other things like Evernote aren't that useful because they can be replaced by the Google Chrome's bookmarks, which is much easier to use than the ever note, and they are free, unlike Evernote, which has a premium account option.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I like writing when I can write what I want.  I like to have a format and a topic,  but be free on what I can do in that topic to write about.  I enjoy fictional writing the most.  Writing is important because you need to be able to describe things when you're in a job.  I enjoyed it when we were told to write about weather and how it described mood.

What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

You have to research to learn about things that you research.  You need to know how to research so you can actually research and learn.  I learned that data bases are very good places to research topics because they have a lot of sources. I think that Ms. Edwards was very good at helping us research because she was the one that taught me how to use
 databases.

Blog Post of the Day:

Kids these days are so spoiled, they get all they want, like their fancy eye phones, and there big mac books, and everything. When I was their age, all I had was a little 8 bit console that didn't work half the time, and the only game on it was the original super Mario brothers.  That game was the hardest game that there ever was. if you didn't know how to get past the last boss, or you couldn't beat the level you were on, then you wouldn't beat the game. Now a days, you can just hop on the internet and look at a walk through of the entire game.  Kids these days aren't appreciated enough about what they have and what we didn't have back in the day.

The global issue that I chose is animal abuse.  The reason I chose that topic is because I love animals and I already know a lot about animal abuse.  I already know how it happens and how the police stop it and how they find out about it.  I'm looking forward to learning more about animal abuse and about organizations that help stop it, but not organizations like PETA, they are not about what I'm researching.

My weekend I sat in my room playing Minecraft all day on my Minecraft 1.8 sever.  I'm wondering what will happen when they reach Minecraft 2.0, if they'll make you buy a new one, or just call it the 2nd one.  I also helped my dad fix our drive way by mixing the repair concrete and pouring it, while he spread it out.  The drive way is in rough shape because there is supposedly an underground river or stream of water that is not giving it support, so it sinks into the river, since there is no re bar to hold it together

Cyber Bullying PSA

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Blog Post of the Day:
Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

You asked us to do different because you didn't want to have to read the same thing over and over again, where it will get very boring.  The point of making this PSA is to alert people who read our post over what we are doing the PSA about. We can't use bullets and headers  because we are trying to inflict emotion in the reader to ensure that they know what we are talking about.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

My Labor Day weekend I sat in my room playing Minecraft all day long, for all three days.  I Decided to make a Minecraft server after I tried to play on other servers that were not just normal Minecraft, so when I made my server, I didn't know exactly what I was doing, so when I made it, I was following a guide, and they didn't say that you needed to tell your friends your IPv4, so I just told them my normal IP address, and it was my friend who told my to tell him my IPv4, and after that I got my server working. Since that was late Monday night, I didn't have that much time to play on it, and since Minecraft 1.8 comes out today, and I made the server on Minecraft 1.7.10, I hopefully will be able to update the server.

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I agree that teens should work.  All teenagers should have to work for someone because it prepares them for their future in life, and it shows them what hard work is and helps them learn that it is hard in the real world. It shows them what a job is and lets them learn. Teens should act whenever they see fit. If you see your lawn needs to be mowed, mow it. If you see your windows are dirty, clean it.  In the real world, your hand isn't going to be held all the way through life. You got to step up and take responsibilities for what needs to be done.

What is a Public Service Announcement? If you don't know what it is, Google it. In your own words, now tell me what it is? What are they used for? Can you recall an example of a PSA you've seen before?

A PSA is a Public Service Announcement that informs the public about issues. The PSA informs us about things such as WWII (the first one ever), drinking and driving, and other things.  Some past PSA were about wearing your set belt, animal shelters, and public and school violence. With out PSA, the public wouldn't know that much about issues that they didn't research for, or look for them selves.

Blog Post of the Day:
After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

I think that the only things to life is the three things that Ashton Kutchar said. There are opportunities, like any job that you can find is a door way to something greater in life, and that you should take it if there are no other door ways open already that are better and brighter than the one in front of you right now. Being sexy, and that smartness and brains are the only thing that matters in life, and that everything else people tell you is crap, and all that matters is how smart you are, and the smarter you are, the more sexy you are.  And lastly, life itself, you are surrounded by people who are just as smart as you, and that if they can do something great, so can you, that they are no better than you, you are the exact same as them, and that if someone says that you are a low life, don't believe them, say that you are just the same as they are, that you are just as smart as they are. So, you should take every opportunity as a door way to something greater, being smart is the only sexy, and that no one can tell you other wise, and lastly, you are the exact same as your peers, and that if they can do something great, so can you.
